Play fair

Server rules

One short rulebook for every TetherRust server and our Discord. Staff apply it the same way everywhere.
01

Fair play

Not allowed

  • Cheats, scripts, macros or any tool that reads or changes the game. This is a permanent ban with no second chance.
  • Brightness, gamma or colour tricks used to see in the dark.
  • Glitching into rocks or terrain, duplicating items, or abusing anything clearly broken.
  • Joining on a second account to dodge a ban or mute.

Allowed

  • Creative building that stays raidable — bunkers, stacking and other known techniques are fine.
02

Groups & teaming

Not allowed

  • Going over the server's group limit at any time, anywhere on the map.
  • Truces, shared codes or shared auth between separate groups.
  • Joining a group just to rob it or hand its base to someone else.

Allowed

  • Swapping out a teammate who has quit the wipe — once codes are changed and their auth is cleared.
  • Trading with other groups through vending machines, the trade window or safe zones.
03

Chat & community

Not allowed

  • Slurs, harassment, threats or posting anyone's personal information.
  • Advertising other servers, sites or shops — in chat, on signs or in Discord.
  • Public call-outs of suspected cheaters. Report them instead so staff can investigate quietly.

Allowed

  • Any language.
  • Banter and trash talk about the game itself.
04

Creators

Not allowed

  • Using someone's live stream to track down where they are.

Streaming on our servers? Turn on streamer mode and keep your map off screen. That way sniping is on them, not you.

05

Enforcement & appeals

Penalties go from a warning or mute, to a temporary ban, to a permanent ban for repeat or serious offences. Cheating skips straight to permanent.

Every action is logged with evidence. You get one appeal through a Discord ticket, and it's reviewed by a different admin than the one who banned you.

Moderators handle chat. Admins handle reports, investigations and bans. Report in game with F7, or open a ticket in Discord.

The golden rule: if it feels like it breaks the spirit of fair play, assume it does. Staff can act on behaviour that isn't spelled out here.
